Discover Exposure Response Prevention Treatment
Treatment for OCD and anxiety-related disorders can feel markedly different from general talk therapy models. Often, individuals describe their OCD as imprisoning them within their own minds and bodies. Despite recognizing the irrationality of their obsessional thoughts, they find themselves trapped in exhaustive mental and behavioral compulsions, offering only temporary relief.
OCD acts as a false alarm in the brain, misinterpreting threats. While fear serves a vital purpose in keeping us safe, those with OCD experience the same heightened response even in the absence of real danger.
That's where evidence-based treatment called Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) comes in. ERP alone is said to be 60-80% effective in reducing OCD and anxiety symptoms. My integrative approach couples ERP with other evidence-based treatments to fortify success even more. By identifying triggers and gradually exposing oneself to them, ERP builds distress tolerance and creates new neural pathways, ultimately empowering individuals to reclaim their lives from OCD's grip.
